Zeus bravely jumped in front when a coral snake attacked his human siblings, but ended up getting bitten 4 times during the struggle.

This unfortunate incident happened when the family’s boys, Oriley and Orion, were outside cleaning Zeus’ water dish. They didn’t notice the snake crawling in, but Zeus did. The loyal dog immediately attacked the snake and shielded his siblings from the venomous reptile. He managed to tackle the snake, but soon collapsed from the snake bites.

The family rushed him to a vet in Ocala, where he was given an anti-venom shot. But Zeus wasn’t able to recover as the poison had already caved deep into his bloodstream. The poor boy succumbed to his injuries and died a day after being bitten.

Parents Gina and Gary Richardson know that they owe their kids’ lives to Zeus. The loss of their beloved boy has left an empty space in their home that cannot be filled. They hope that people value Zeus’ sacrifice and stop stereotyping Pit Bulls negatively, as these dogs are only fiercely loyal and protective of their families. You rest in peace, Zeus. You will always be remembered.
