Heroic pit bull drags 7-month-old sister by diaper out of house fire, then alerts family

Pit Bull drags 7-month-old baby from house fire by diaper

When the house went up in flames, Latana feared for the worst - she rushed to her baby's room to get her but saw that her pit bull had already started pulling her to safety...

Some say having a dog around a little baby is not a good idea. Especially when we are talking about a dog breed with not the best reputation. Most likely top of this category are pit bulls, seen by a lot o people as unpredictable and dangerous dogs.

Well, for this California-based mom her pit bull is nothing but a hero. All after the selfless dog managed to save her human sister’s life. According to mom, Latana Chai, her baby  Masailah and her dog Sasha have always been an inseparable duo. They were born just days apart and they even shared the same bed. But their special, unbreakable bond became visible when a fire broke in their building.

Few minutes after midnight, on Saturday, Sasha was having a very unusual behavior. “I heard like, a loud bang and I was like, ‘what’s going on?’ I heard Sasha crying and she kept jumping at the door. As soon as I got to the door, she runs in and starts barking,” Latana said, according to Kare 11.

When the woman opened the door for Sasha, the dog run directly into baby’s room. Then Latana noticed smoke coming from the ceiling, a fire that was spreading from their neighbor’s house.

When we speak of dogs, the first thing that comes to our mind is the word loyalty. It’s beyond believable how these creatures are willing to risk everything, including their life, for the well-being of their owners. This story that was shared by a woman named Nana Chaichanhda from Stockton, California is just another proof of how valuable a dog can be for one family, and how much joy it can bring.

The firefighters who arrived in a matter of minutes did their best but the damage was done, and most of the place was burned down. The case is still under investigation.

On the night of the fire, the house was empty so no person was harmed. Nana and her three children were lucky to have their dog by their side.

I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for Sasha, I would have still been in bed, and things could have taken a worse turn.

Nana is beyond grateful for the opportunity her children to grow up around a dog that is so loyal. She also says that the dog stays at the house, and it was a rare night that she was left outside.

Soon she realized the danger, the mom quickly run into her daughter’s room. But to her surprise, Sasha already grabbed Masailah by the diaper and pulling her to safety. The family credits Sasha’s early warning barks for keeping them safe. This story proves once again that it’s not about the breed it’s about how a dog is raised.Because all dogs are loyal, smart and cute.

Many people assume that pit bulls are not children oriented dogs and that they can harm babies and young kids, but everyone who owns one, including Nana, can say that assumption is far from reality.
